"Antimicrobial resistance is as big a threat as terrorism." Dame Sally Davies, Director Public Health UK
We want a pill for every ill. Red ones have been shown to work better - but anitibiotics are not placebos. They do not work for viruses, they do not work for coughs or colds, no matter how rubbish you may feel, and they should not be used 'just in case'. Resistance is increasing year on year, along with bugs that are resistant to just about everything... and there will be virtually no new antibiotics developed in the next 10 years.
